• Each suppository contains
Diclofenac sodium 100mg
Description
• Non steroidal compound eith pronouced anti-inflammatory ,analgesic and anti-pyretic properties
• Inhibit PG biosynthesis involved in its anti-inflammatory effects
• Inhibit enzyme cyclo-oxygenase thereby preventing formation of thromboxanes,PG and prostacyclins(mediators of pain and inflammation)

Indication
» Relief of all grade of pain and inflammation
» Inflammatory and degenerative forms of rheumatism,rheumatoid arthritis.juvinile rheumatoid arthritis,osteoarthritis,painful syndrome of vertebral column,non articular rheumatism,acute attack of gout
» Primary dysmenorrhoea
» Inflammatory infections of ear,nose,throat
Dosage
Adults
» One 100mg suppository daily,usually at night.In more severe cases,combined therapy with 50mg tablets
is recommended
» Maximum daily dose should not exceed 150mg
» Children and adolescend
» 1-3mg/kg/day in divided dose
Contraindications
◊ Hypersensitivity reactions
◊ Any inflammation lesions of rectum or anus
◊ Recent rectal or anal bledding peptic ulcer
◊ Pts with attack of asthma ,urticaria or acute rhinitis have been ppted by acetylsalicyclic acid or other PG synthetase inhibitors
Warning and precautions
¶ GI disorders
¶ Peptic ulcer,ulcerative colitis
¶ Impaired hepatic function
¶ GI bleeding or ulceration/perforation in elderly pts
Pregnacy
¶ Lowest effective dose should be used
¶ Not recommended during last trimester of pregnancy
Lactation
¶ Should be avoided if possible,because small amount of diclofenac enter mother’s milk
Children
¶ Suppositories of 50mg and 100mg are not recommended
Side effects
¶ GI-epigastric pain, nausea,vomitting,diarrhoea,abd cramps,dyspepsia,local irritation
¶ CNS-headache,dizziness,vertigo
¶ Skin-rash
¶ Liver-elevated SGOT, SGPT
¶ Blood-thrombocytopenia,leucopenia,aplastic anaemia,haemolytic anaemia
