Composition
Each vaginal suppository contains
Miconazole nitrate ….100mg
Description
• A synthetic antifungal broad spectrum agent
•inhibits the growth of common dermatophytes Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Epidermophyton floccosum,the yeast like fungus,Candida albicans and tinea versicolar
Indications
• Vaginal yeast infections –candidiasis
• Relief of external vulvar itching
• Irritation associated with a yeast infection |
Dosage and adminisrtation
• Should be administrated intravaginally once daily at bedtime for seven night to treat vaginal yeast infection
Contraindications
• Hypersensitivity reactions
Warning and precautions
◊ May interact with latex of a diaphragm,cervical cap, or condom
◊ For external use only
◊ Avoid contact with eye
◊ Pregnancy
◊ Should be used with caution
◊ Nursing mother
◊ Should be used with caution
◊ Paediatric use
◊ Topical preparations should be used in children younger than 2 yrs of age only under direction of a physician
