Ciprofloxacin (Quinolone) is a synthetic broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent.
◊ The bactericidal action of ciprofloxacin results from inhibition of the enzymes topoisomerase II & IV, which are required for bacterial DNA replication,repair & recombination.

◊ There is no known cross-resistance between ciprofloxacin & other classes of antimicrobials.
